Though she was born a princess, Laina's life has been anything but a fairy tale. Orphaned at a young age, she was raised by one of the Banded Men, a race of huge, fearsome warriors often considered barbarians in the days before the collapse of human civilization. But with her aging adopted father nearing the end of his days, she will need to find a place for herself in the world.

Upon returning home after years away at war, the first thing Randall, Hadden, and Aron have on their minds is finding a mate. When the three battle-hardened brothers see that Laina--the human girl their uncle took in as a child--has grown into a beautiful woman, they quickly decide to claim her as their bride.

Among the Banded Men, a woman is not asked her opinion before she is taken as a wife, and Laina is shocked to discover that her new husbands will not hesitate to punish her bottom both inside and out if she defies them. But her passion is set ablaze as the handsome warriors each take their turn to claim her, and though the very idea leaves her blushing, she soon finds herself longing for the moment when she will be made to surrender her body to all three of them at once.

Publisher's Note Claiming Their Princess is a stand-alone book which is the second entry in the Barbarian Mates series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

I really enjoyed this book---I am often a bit wary of space/alien themed books, because having to remember all of the terms and different meanings, etc, takes me out of what isn't my favorite genre to begin with----so I thought this was especially well done because

a) it had an "alien" race i.e. the Banded, that was explained in a very straight forward, not confusing way..........

and

b) terminology needed was kept to a minimum, and explained within the context of the story

Those are the things that always COMPLETELY throw me off......

So, the story------------

I really enjoyed the backstory as to how/why there are three males claiming one mate---it also made me very sad, and added a bit of depth to what is essentially porn. I liked that there was effort put into a backstory of WHY......instead of it just being "well, three warriors decided they want to share a mate"....which is fine too--but it's good to switch it up a bit.

I liked the idea that while the heroine was expecting to be mated/claimed...............as it was a culture that she had grown up with all her life (I HATE when a hero/heroine acts like they are ignorant of something they have grown up with all their lives)..........but she was still resistant due to other factors. It was very realistic, and it brought some drama/angst to the story.

Last but not least--the sex was hot. That is a given. I read the preclude to the three-way scene at least three times before I even made it to the sex, because it was that hot.

Great read
I wasn't a fan of this book. The dominance and submission didn't seem to have the same quality as it does in a better story. On top of that I didn't feel a connection to the characters. The story just seemed undeveloped.
Not thrilled with this one, not into punishment. Especially a grown woman being spanked, or punished with anal intercourse, totally takes away from the idea of a story being 'sexy' or even romantic. Just not my thing I suppose.
Love it. A great book by Sue Lyndon; I absolutely recommend reading it.
While i still do not quite know the difference between a Banded and human....this was an excellent story. It made me cry and laugh and cringe. Some spanking but lots of love.
Laina is a princess and when her horrible father dies when she is 6 she is found by one of the Banded men and adopted. Fast forward years later and the man who took her in has his nephews come back after fighting in the war. The 3 of them know she will be their mate but she doesn't. She is scared and runs to the one place that has bad memories her old castle. They find her and a punishment is in the works. Will she accept them?
This book had so much potential. The author really took a unique route to the romance, and the fantasy environment was simple, and yet vivid. I found myself reading it for the scenery rather than the characters towards the end.

I really would have given this book a higher review if it weren't for one key problem. As you obviously see in the description, there is a bit of 'spanking' between the heroine and her husbands. However, it seemed more like straight up abuse. One scene in particular rubbed me so wrong that I had to skip an entire chapter to avoid it. It's one thing when you have consenting adults who are deriving pleasure from an agreed upon act, but the heroine was NOT into it. She was actually sobbing and begging, and was literally BEATEN with a wooden spoon. And this is somehow justified because her lower half responds a little?

Na-uh. No go. You don't beat your sobbing, begging wife, who is emotionally vulnerable after she has repeatedly told you not to. You especially don't force her to remain locked inside, asking for permission if she needs to go out. This poor girl sounded like a prisoner. I'm sure that's not what the author intended, but that's how it came across.
