As an individual who did study under Grandmaster Jimmy H. Woo for a short period of time, I do like the fact that a first generation Kung Fu student took the time to write about this legendary man. Anyone who studied under Jimmy could have done the same, but Sam Silva did! Jimmy had a love and passion for this art and so does Sam. This book takes you inside the life of Jimmy from his early childhood up to his accepting the Lord as his personal savior and shares some of his real life situations. Sam happened to be a close friend of Jimmy and gives a true, personal account of what Jimmy did for all of his students and how his legacy has carried on. This book is a quick, easy read and would make a great gift for someone interested in Kung Fu San Soo.
Let me say I have no background in this area and because of that I had no idea what Kung Fu San Soo was or how it differed from other styles of martial arts. In fact, I really had no interest in the subject. That is until a friend asked me to look at this book. When I did I was amazed. What I read was very informative and interesting. Even though this book is subject specific it is written in an easy to understand manner which is very easy to follow even for the lay person such as myself.
As a Christian I was amazed that the author was able to combine information regarding a very violent style of fighting with the perspective of Christian principles. That was something I would have thought impossible until I looked at this book. The history, the author's experience and the man Jimmy Woo were fascinating. I really recommend this book to the Christian and non-Christian alike. I feel this book will be especially useful to all martial artists or anyone who is simply looking for an answer on how to live the best life possible.
I am not a martial artist and prior to reading this book I had little knowledge regarding Kung Fu other than what I have seen on television and in the movies. I had read the author's other book Surviving The Cross Fire - Getting Through Life Intact and enjoyed his writing style.
I found the topic of Kung Fu San Soo fascinating as I did the many adventures regarding the life of Jimmy Woo.
I was especially taken that a man who trained since he was a little boy and encouraged to participate in the violence of street fights would one day convert to Christianity. The author's explanation of Jimmy's metamorphosis was truly inspiring.
The description of the book notes it is written from a Christian perspective. I found the information it contained would interest the Christian and non Christian alike. The book was written in a clear, concise and easily understandable manner and was a pleasure to read.
I highly recommend this book.

Jimmy H Woo the legend well written brought back many memories
Does not even delve into the techniques. Gets a bit too Christian-oriented and basically says nothing except spout redundant quotes. I wanted to see the greatness that made Jimmy Woo a legend with his fighting style. Instead the author injects himself in almost every aspect of the book.
anything that is authenticated by the woo, is hands down great, sam wrote down someof the greatest insights into the the heart and soul of san soo's last great master
